Microtracer and ivMicrotracer studies
ivMicrotracerTM studies allow IV/PK and absolute bioavailability data to be generated for a fraction of the cost and in a much shorter timeframe than traditional approaches used in pharmaceutical development.
In ivMicrotracer studies an intravenous 14C-tracer dose, usually 1/100th to 1/1000th of the extra-vascular dose, is administered at the tmax of the extra-vascular dose and the plasma samples generated are analysed by accelerator mass spectrometry and LC-MS/MS. Using this approach there is no requirement for supporting toxicology data for the intravenous tracer dose.
Our approach to ivMicrotracer studies allows these to be conducted as stand alone studies or they can be incorporated (“piggy-backed”) into almost any standard early development study at a small incremental cost.
