BioMS
Quotient Bioresearch is a pioneer in the use of mass spectrometry for the analysis of biologicals and has created the BioMS™ service for rapid, accurate protein quantification without the need for synthesis of antibodies.
Quantifying proteins - whether biomarkers or therapeutics - can be one of the slowest and more difficult steps in drug development. The current standard technique, ELISA, is specific and sensitive but depends on obtaining enough good quality antibodies, which can be a time-consuming process. Method development has, until now, been a costly and long-term process.
BioMS™ removes the need for antibody development and production. Proteins are digested using specific enzymes, producing diagnostic peptides. These are resolved using rapid chromatography and quantified using tandem mass spectrometry. Accuracy is provided by using a synthetic “heavy” peptide as a standard.
